POLICY ON MINORS
No one under 18 years of age is allowed at FireDrums. While we want to embrace as many members of the flow and fire arts community to FireDrums as possible, minors present significant safety and liability concerns.
We may choose to approve a limited number of exceptions for especially committed and mature young spinners to attend under the steady supervision of a parent or legal guardian who has signed a liability waiver for the child. If you are under 18 and wish to attend, contact us at
info@firedrums.org to discuss a possible exception.
We ask that you please respect this policy, as it is intended to protect the health and well-being of our community’s future flow artists.

EVENT ENTRY & EXIT
Event gates will open at noon on Thursday, May 31, 2012. No early arrivals are allowed.
Prepare to show your valid photo I.D. to greeters at the event gate. The name under which you purchase your ticket should match the name on your photo I.D. Please do not purchase tickets under a nickname that bears no resemblance to your name on your photo I.D. It will delay or prevent your entry into FireDrums if the greeters are unable to clearly match you with your ticket.
Each person in your vehicle must have their own FireDrums ticket purchased in their name to check-in and be allowed on site. If everyone in your car does not have a purchased FireDrums ticket, no one in the vehicle may enter the event.
FireDrums does not allow in and out driving privileges. Once you are checked in to the event, you may not exit and return during the event.
All attendees must wear a FireDrums dog tag issued at the greeter station upon entry. Dog tags must be worn at all times during FireDrums. If you do not have a dog tag, you will be escorted out of the event. Anyone in possession of a dog tag that has been altered in any way will be ejected from FireDrums without a refund.
All attendees must leave the FireDrums venue before 12:00 PM noon on Sunday, June 3, 2012.

CAMPING
All camping is walk-in tent camping. You should be prepared to carry all of your personal camping gear from parking areas to nearby tent camping areas.
Vehicles over 15 feet in length cannot be accommodated at FireDrums. Please contact
grounds@firedrums.org if you have questions about vehicles at FireDrums.
If you have questions or concerns regarding accessibility for those with disabilities, please contact us at
grounds@firedrums.org to discuss parking and camping options.
FireDrums is a Leave No Trace event. You must bring your own garbage bags to carry out any trash and recyclables you generate. The FireDrums X venue is remote enough that local waste management companies do not service the area and there are no garbage cans at the venue. Pack it in, pack it out. Your cooperation in keeping the venue clean will allow FireDrums to return to the venue in the future.
There are water spigots with potable water located through the main camping areas and portable toilets will be available throughout the grounds. Additionally, there is one small bathroom structure on site with flush toilets, cold water sinks, and a couple of warm water showers.

MEALS & COOKING (NOTE MAJOR CHANGE IN 2012)
THERE WILL BE NO COMMUNITY KITCHEN SERVING COMMUNAL MEALS AT FIREDRUMS X.
The new FireDrums venue has no kitchen facilities and the cost of bringing in equipment to create a kitchen to safely and sanitarily feed the number of people expected at FireDrums is cost-prohibitive. And by that, we mean we’d have to pass on some incredibly high costs to you in a very expensive ticket price.
We will miss the community kitchen in 2012, but we know that FireDrums participants are capable of taking care of their own nutrition and would prefer to control how much they want to spend on meals rather than having the amount automatically built into their ticket price.
As FireDrums has a no in and out driving policy, you will need to plan accordingly and bring with you all food and cooking supplies to last you the duration of your stay at FireDrums.
Please do your shopping in larger Bay Area cities before driving to the FireDrums site for better selection and to minimize our impact on the small communities surrounding the FireDrums venue. Our polite and unobtrusive travel through the small towns on the way to FireDrums will help ensure FireDrums’ future.
Small camp stoves and propane grills are allowed in camping areas, but for fire safety reasons set by the venue, there are no individual campfires, charcoal grills, or other open flame fires allowed other than those circling the fire performance arena in the evenings.
We are also seeking food vendors for FireDrums X, but attendees should not rely solely on purchasing their meals from food vendors at this time. Food vending updates will be announced closer to the event.

WORKSHOPS
Sharing and learning are at the core of FireDrums. There are dozens of workshops covering a variety of skills at a range of ability levels throughout the weekend, each led by talented performers and experienced instructors.
We are seeking both new and veteran FireDrums instructors with clear workshop lesson plans and sincere enthusiasm to teach others in the flow and fire arts community.
If you would like to apply to teach a workshop, please note that you must be a paid ticketholder at the time you submit your application.
Applications were being accepted at
http://tinyurl.com/teachatfiredrums.
Application deadline was February 15, 2012.
Please see the WORKSHOPS section for a published schedule of workshops as the event date nears.

VENDING
FireDrums invites vendors to sell merchandise that the FireDrums community may find useful or inspirational to our practice and performance. In previous years, we’ve had a great selection of fire and flow art tools and toys, plus unique clothing and personal adornments available for purchase.
Vendors will once again be a part of FireDrums, so consider supporting the small, independent business owners who supply our fire and flow art community with a bounty of specialized goods.
For more information on vending, visit the VENDING section.

Anyone found starting individual campfires will also be ejected from the event.
