This will be our 8th FireDrums gathering and we are expecting the largest
participation yet. Though FireDrums is not an exclusive gathering, we wish to
keep the focus on fire arts and acoustic drumming and other related instruments.
Therefore, while friends and family of all ages are welcome, we ask that you not
disseminate information to other lists not directly related to these arts.
There are many 'events', 'parties' and 'happenings' thru out the year. However,
FireDrums is a wonderfully fun gathering of learning, sharing and participating
and is not a rave or party scene. FireDrums is a gathering of all ages and we
cherish this very special weekend and ask that all attending show the utmost
respect for everyone as well as the amazingly beautiful setting where we will
gather. FireDrums is a Leave No Trace Gathering. Please help us keep the costs
as low as possible by keeping the camp clean and taking all trash and
recyclables with you.
To ensure the safest and most positive experience for everyone, please read the
important information below. As much as we love pets, they are not permitted per
the camp rules.
TICKETS
400 FireDrums tickets will be on sale March 15th. There will be no tickets sold at the
gate. Attendance is limited to 400 people. There are no physical tickets. Just
show up at the gate with picture ID. You can check if you have tickets by
logging in and going to "Your Info" page.
CAMPING
This is a LNT (Leave No Trace) gathering. Please bring plenty of trash bags and
take everything you brought with you when you leave. There are ample camp spaces
to set up tents; some have tables, running water and outhouses thru out the
camp. There are hot showers and restrooms a short walk from most camp spaces.
NO CARS ALLOWED IN THE CAMP SITE AREAS. If you wish to camp in
your vehicle, you will be parked below in a specified area. Sorry, but NO RV's
ALLOWED per camp rules. Parking is limited so PLEASE carpool.

WORKSHOPS
The focus and vision of FireDrums is to bring people together to make new
friends and to learn and share knowledge in the arts of flo and spinning.
There will be many workshops in various
areas and skill levels of these crafts through out the weekend led by some of the
arts most talented and experienced instructors. Please see the WORKSHOPS page
for a partial list of bios and information about these instructors and
workshops.
COMMUNITY MEALS AND COOKING
NO OPEN FLAMES OR INDIVIDUAL CAMP FIRES
are allowed other than pre specified fire pits. Please do not take firewood from the main play
area as that is specifically for the evening bon fires.
There is a lodge with a large kitchen where we will be having pot luck meals prepared by volunteers.
We will be supplying a large portion of the pot luck meals but you are encouraged to
contribute additional food items.
If you have a special dish you'd like to prepare you can bring the necessary
items or there will be a list of requested items that will be appreciated on the
Forum.
The kitchen is reserved for those preparing community meals and is not
available for individual private use.
If you want to volunteer to help preparing the community meals, or if you have
special dietary needs that will need use of the kitchen, please send a message
to; communitymeals@firedrums.org.
Community meals will be from 11am to 1 pm and from 5pm to 7pm.
The lodge is reserved at all other times for workshops.
We will be preparing a "tentative" list of meals, including dishes for our
vegetarian friends and posting it on the Forum at
a later time.
WHAT TO BRING, OR NOT TO BRING
We will be in the Santa Cruz Mountains, about 30 to 40 minutes from the nearest
stores and shops. There is no food or "necessities" vending on site. The weather
at the time of year of the gathering can range from a beautiful warm sunny day
(sun block & hat), to breezy, to a "slight" possibility of rain, to chilly
nights. In short, bring everything you need for an outdoor weekend; clothing,
food, personals etc. As at any other venue, no alcohol or drugs are allowed. And
sorry, but per camp rules, no animals (dogs) allowed.
Please remember: There will be NO TICKETS SOLD at the door.
